Prepare for Care

Our story

Our story

Prepare for Care, founded by father-son duo Nick and Tom Ash, emerged from a blend of technical expertise and a profound understanding of the legal sector. Drawing from nearly two decades of experience in the elderly private client domain, we realised that transitioning into care could be an incredibly stressful process for all parties involved – not just the individual at the heart of the care package. The ripple effect of this transition extends to family, friends, care workers and registered managers, impacting everyone’s
well-being.

Having closely worked with such clients in the past, we were privileged to discover that a few simple interventions could make this process seamless and less daunting. Thus, Prepare for Care was born – a solution that brings transparency and predictability to the care journey.

With our vision in place, we knew we needed a partner who not only shared our passion for delivering outstanding service but also possessed the technical prowess to turn our vision into reality. That’s when we found Projekt Rising. Their expertise in AI and app development was remarkable, but what truly sealed the deal was the fact that they were also clients of W&P Legal, a law firm founded by Nick Ash in 2005.

We believe that every step of the care journey should be met with empathy, expertise and the assurance of clear lines of communication. Join us on this transformative path, where technical brilliance meets care, making a positive impact on the lives of those who need care.

In memory of Fred

A message from Tom, founder of Prepare for Care...

To me, he’s not just Fred. He’s my Grandad. Living with dementia, he’s faced unique challenges that turned our family’s world upside down. I vividly remember the unexpected phone call that changed everything. Fred had attacked my Grandma, an event none of us saw coming after their picture-perfect marriage of 50 years.

Admitted to a local hospital, we discovered that Fred had suffered a stroke and couldn’t return home. Instead, he needed specialised care. The local authority found him a distant care home in Lincolnshire, the county
we live in, which is also the UK’s second largest county, so they had fulfilled their obligation. However, travelling 45 miles from home felt like an isolating journey for both him and our family.

We refused to accept the status quo. Armed with an LPA (Lasting Power
of Attorney) and industry knowledge, we advocated for Fred’s well-being.

We sought an alternative solution, approaching a local care home and
proving his financial status with just three months’ bank statements.
Guess what? Fred found a bed in a home mere minutes away from his support circle!

Fred spent several years in the care home down the road from us until he peacefully passed away in 2024. Now, I’ve made it my mission to help other families advocate for their loved ones’ best interests to ensure their later life is comfortable.

Prepare for Care has been founded from the experiences and genuine emotion that our family have been through and, because of this, is driven by true passion for finding the right care.
